The Asian and Pacific Islanders Student Center (APISC) is dedicated to the promotion, education, and celebration of the Asian and Pacific Islander community.  The APISC strives to assist the university’s dedication to advancing knowledge and learning while preparing students for life, leadership and careers in a changing, multicultural world.  It coordinates projects, resources and services designed to meet the needs of Cal Poly Pomona’s Asian and Pacific Islander students, while providing an open environment to engage and learn about important issues regarding the community.

Sharon Rocacorba started working at Cal Poly Pomona in 2006.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology from UCLA and is currently working on a Master of Science degree in the Student Development in Higher Education program at Cal State Long Beach.

Khoa Nguyen majors in Hotel Restaurant Management and double minors in French and Communications.  He is part of Vote Organization Towards Equality, Association of Student Event Planners, and Associated Students Incorporated.  He has been an international student from Vietnam since 2005.  Over his three years at Cal Poly Pomona, he has been very involved with the APISC and Pride Center working to get equality in the LGBT community.

Judy Tran is working towards her bachelors of science in Psychology with a minor in Business. She is an active person on campus, getting involved with many things such as: Inter Hall Council (IHC), Vietnamese Student Association (VSA), Student Development and Leadership Institute (SDLI), PSI CHI, National Organization for Women (N.O.W.), Office of Student Life & Cultural Center. Being an active student herself she wants to reach out to others so they can have those great experiences while gaining more knowledge and friendships through life.

Sofia Chinen is a freshman majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Though she has not had much time to join clubs or organizations on campus, she is very active in the APISC. She is taking advantage of an intern opportunity that will give her experience and long lasting friendships. Chinen helped plan the Lunar New Year event, and is planning on expanding her knowledge on event planning.
