Goals of the Program
The philosophy of the CAPS training program is that interns are professionals in training. We train our interns to be generalists, with a particular expertise working with a college population. The goals of the pre-doctoral internship program with Counseling and Psychological Services are:
- To prepare graduate students in psychology to function as competent, confident, ethical professionals who are able to deal with a wide range of psychopathology, pressing concerns, and mental health issues.
- To hone intern's clinical skills and make those skills relevant to a culturally diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
- To produce accomplished therapists with a specialty in serving students and the college community.
- To educate interns in the competent delivery of services while supporting CAPS mission and adhering to the Mission and Values of Division of Student Affairs.
