Summary: This site provides clinical psychology students with the opportunity to pursue university counseling center experience with a culturally diverse population.

Hours: 24-30 hours per week. (may vary depending upon graduate school requirement). This site will begin training in September 2009 and ends on or about June 30, 2010 depending on completion of 800+ hours internship requirement.
Diagnostic Categories: Clients present with a broad spectrum of Axis I and II diagnostic symptoms including anxiety, depression, eating and adjustment disorders, and relationship concerns (V codes).
Activities: Students will provide intake evaluations, brief therapy and an extended longer term therapy case, psychological assessment, consultation, crisis intervention, interpersonal process and psycho-educational group therapy, for college age individuals, couples, and periodically, their families. Student will have the opportunity to be involved in outreach and presentations to residence halls, and student life organizations. This site utilizes a combination of integrative approaches including Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Object Relations, Existential and Family Systems.
Supervision: Students will be provided with 2 hours of individual supervision/training (with a psychologist) and 1.0 hours of group supervision weekly with a licensed psychologist and/or LMFT.
Special Requirements: Students are required to attend training, staff meeting, case consultation and group supervision on Wednesdays and are expected to be on site at CAPS from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Application Procedure: Obtain prior approval from the Director of Clinical Training (DCT) at your graduate school. Send a completed CAPIC application, CAPIC Eligibility and Readiness form, a cover letter, resume, 2 writing samples (e.g. a sample intake evaluation, and psychological assessment), graduate transcript and 3 letters of recommendation. An official graduate transcript may follow once candidate is pre-selected for an interview.
