The departments in the Dean of Students cluster advance the University’s educational mission by extending the learning environment beyond the classroom through intentionally designed co-curricular opportunities. To that end, each department and those who comprise it, is committed to promoting the development and enhancement of the educational experience of students through a wide array of programs and services. We strive to:
· Enhance the quality of campus life by promoting active student engagement; · Provide cultural-specific student services that values and celebrates the diversity of a multicultural student population; · Foster and inspire leadership development; · Provide information and resources to achieve a community of respect, civility, and integrity through a fair and just student disciplinary process; · Provide affordable, convenient, and quality child care services for preschool and school age children; · Provide leadership and support to special initiatives and campus-wide programs; |
The Dean of Students Office was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for the Power Save Campus Program with a certificate level of "Green"!

The Dean of Students cluster is comprised of these areas:
Ø African American Student Center
Ø Asian and Pacific Islander Student Center
Ø Cesar E. Chavez Center for Higher Education
Ø Native American Student Center
Ø Violence Prevention and Women’s Resource Center
The AVP & Dean of Students also works in close partnership with:
Associated Students, Incorporated (ASI) - This is to ensure that programs and services are connected with those in other programming areas as well as serving as the primary advisor to ASI Student Government.
As an integral part of the senior leadership team that advises the Vice President and provides vision and direction to the Division, the Associate Vice President & Dean of Students plays a key role in the development of university policy and participates in institutional planning, management, and advancement.
