Disability-Related Counseling

DRC counselors provide support in managing students' disability-related needs, thus enabling them to maximize their potential and achieve their educational and vocational objectives.  Assistance is provided in exploring how students' disabilities impact both their short-term and long-term academic and career choices.  Although independence and self-advocacy are encouraged as important skills to develop, counselors often liaison with faculty and staff when needed to facilitate the provision of disability-related needs.

If you would like to meet with a counselor but are not yet registered with our office, you should first register with the DRC by scheduling an intake appointment to determine eligibility and services in accordance with your documented disability.  Many of your initial questions can be answered during this first appointment, and you will also learn which accommodations and services are identified for your use in maximizing your academic success while attending Cal Poly Pomona.

If you are already registered with us, please feel free to contact our receptionist to schedule an appointment to discuss your needs or interets at any time.  Counselors have areas of speciality to assist them in working with students according to the nature of their disabilities.   When you call for an appointment, you may be asked the nature of your disability in order to schedule you with the counselor who can best meet your needs.  If you have already worked with one of our counselors, feel free to ask to meet with that person again.  For questions needing more immediate attention, you may also choose to email your counselor, or call their direct phone line (see DRC Staff Directory).
