Are parents required to attend Orientation?
Parents and Family members are not required to attend, however their attendance at Parent/Family Orientation can make your transition to college easier. Your family can learn more about Cal Poly Pomona and gain a greater understanding of what you will be experiencing in your first year and beyond.

Is advance registration required for the Parent/Family Orientation program?
Yes. Due to limited space and accommodations, advance registration is required. Walk-in registrations for any of these programs cannot be accommodated.

Do parents and family members get to stay overnight?
No, parents and family members registered for Orientation must make separate hotel accommodations. Here are a few local recommendations:

Will students and parents be together during Orientation?
No. The time parents and students spend together during Orientation is rather limited. The Parent/Family Orientation is highly specialized whereby participants will learn how the family plays an important role in supporting your transition to college.

Is the Parent/Family Orientation program appropriate for children?
Although we recognize and appreciate how valuable the entire family is to your academic success, the Parent/Family Orientation program is intended for adult family members and other individuals who serve an important role in your transition to college. Parents are encouraged to keep young children at home, as child care cannot be provided.

How do parents & family members register for orientation?
When you sign up for your Orientation session online via BroncoDirect, you may indicate what family members will be attending. The fee for each parent or family member is $35 each.

Is the Parent/Family Orientation program available year around?
No, Parent/Family programs are only available during the summer for our new Fall admits.

Can I get a refund for my Parent/Family Orientation fees?
Should you not be able to attend Orientation after you have registered, your registration fees for Orientation, Poly Nights and/or Parent/Family Orientation are non-refundable.
