APPEAL INFORMATION
STEP ONE: Appeal Process (Administrative Review)
If you wish to contest a citation you must do so within 21 days from the date of issuance.
Forms can be obtained by several methods.
- By filling out our online appeal form.
- By coming down to Police and Parking Services (Building 109). View map.
STEP TWO: The Appeals Hearing
If you are not satisfied with the results of the step 1, Administrative Review, you may pursue the matter by requesting an Appeal Hearing. You may request an in-person or over the telephone an Appeals Hearing. Requests for an appeals hearing are required to be made in writing by completing a Request For Appeal Hearing Form. Your request for an Appeal Hearing must be accompanied by payment in full of the amount due for the citation. (Reference CVC 40215.b. for complete details).
A hearing examiner will review the information provided and your testimony. A decision is then rendered.
In lieu of an in-person hearing, a written Appeal Hearing may also be conducted. A hearing by written declaration will be performed after full payment of the penalty is received. A hearing examiner shall review the written declaration and render a decision based on the information submitted.
The decision of the hearing examiner may be delivered personally to you or by first class mail. If you are found "not liable", the penalty paid for the citation will be refunded in full. Refunds will be processed once the Parking Office receives the judges decision. Actual refund checks may take up to 2 weeks to a month to be issued.
Vehicles not displaying a valid Cal Poly Pomona parking permit and/or following the posted information are subject to a parking citation. A parking permit must be purchased before the issuing of a citation to be considered. Failure to respond to 5 or more unpaid citations may result in the towing of your vehicle along with a DMV Hold.
