Message From the Chief

 Safety and security on campus is a true partnership here at Cal Poly Pomona.  While we have a staff of dedicated professionals working 24 hours a day to that end, our true success lies in the vigilance and active participation of our students, members of the faculty and staff members.  In the past few years we have received assistance and information from the campus community that has accomplished this goal in several instances:

-            Suspicious actions by individuals in campus parking lots have led to tips resulting in auto theft arrests;

-            Students at-risk due to emotional or other issues have received timely assistance from a number of campus resources;

-            Situations or conditions such as poor lighting, dangerous roadway conditions, etc., have been reported and addressed.

Our partnership with the campus community is perhaps best exemplified by our student workers – our Community Services Officers.  These students work long hours, often at night, helping University Police Officers keep watch over the campus.  Along the way these students gain knowledge that compliments their academic work, whatever their major field of study.
