Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS)

The University Police Department was awarded a one-year grant by the U.S. Department of Justice (1 of only 9 awards nationwide) to expand and enhance our volunteer program.  Our program was recently featured in the national VIPS in Focus newletter.

VIPS partners police staff and campus community members, working side by side, to perform an array of functions.  VIPS enhances law enforcement-community relations; Volunteers develop a better understanding of the department and what we do, and serve as ambassadors in the campus community. When community members help to design, prioritize, and even deliver services, a closer connection is made.

As a volunteer, you will contribute to campus safety, while taking advantage of a range of opportunities to enhance your resume and professional development. Matching a volunteer's skills and interests with departments'  needs, VIPS have worked in investigations, emergency services, dispatch and administrative areas.

Download the VIPS application and submit to University Police at Building 91 on Red Gum Ln at University
