All newly entering EOP Special Admits and Renaissance Scholars are required to attend Summer Bridge.
All EOP undeclared and declared students are also invited and encouraged to apply for a space in Summer Bridge. If you have been admitted as an EOP student, and have returned your EOP Acceptance Agreement, you will be sent a link to a SB Information Flyer and a SB Interest Form. If you wish to be considered for the program, complete and submit the Interest Form as soon as possible. Your name will be placed on the list for consideration and you will be notified either between April 27th and April 30th, or June 1st and 12th.
Students who are not EPT and ELM exempt must take the EPT and/or the ELM no later than May 2, 2009. You must request that your test scores be sent to Cal Poly Pomona. The last day to register for this test date is April 17, 2009.
The University requires that you submit your 8th semester high school transcripts showing that you have graduated from high school to the University Admissions Office by July 15, 2009. Should your 8th semester transcripts not be received by this date, your offer of admission to the University will be rescinded Check with your high school office to make sure this will not be a problem.
You should register to secure a date for a summer orientation session as soon as you receive an invitation from Orientation Services. Should you be selected to participate in SB, we will make the appropriate arrangements to accommodate your orientation program. Should you change your mind and decide not to attend SB after being accepted into the program, you will be responsible for logging onto Bronco Direct to register for a University Orientation Program session.
Students may not participate in Early Start, Quest or any other University program that takes place during SB (June 28th - July 16th). Students are free to participate in other University programs at the conclusion of SB. Call Vicki Calderón at (909) 869-3369 for more information.
Summer Bridge is a "Closed Campus" program. In order to ensure students' safety and for the students to obtain the greatest benefit from the program, students will stay on campus from Sunday through Thursday. Students are allowed to stay in the residence hall on weekends only if their home is a great distance from campus or if they are participants in the Renaissance Scholars Program.
Students check-out of the residence hall every Thursday by 8:00 p.m., and check-in by Sunday at 6:00 p.m. (not before 5:00 p.m.). Families may visit their students' room at check-in and check-out each week. There are no visitation hours during the week.
Summer Bridge is a comprehensive program. Due to the intensity of workshops, seminars, tutorials, and residential activities, as well as restrictions on leaving our campus, students are not permitted to have other employment Sunday afternoon to Thursday evening. Although students may work during non-Summer Bridge hours (Thursday night through Sunday afternoon), this is also discouraged. Students will be given homework over the weekend, which will be expected on Monday.
