SUMMER BRIDGE WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES

All students will participate in either a math or writing workshop each day of the program. Students whose ELM scores place them in MAT 10, 11 or 12 will attend a math workshop.
- MAT 11 or 12 workshop participants will take a challenge test at the end of SB to determine if they will take the next math class in the preparatory sequence or possibly college-level math in fall quarter.
- MAT 10 workshop participants will retake the ELM test on July 18th.
- Writing workshop participants are students who are exempt from taking the ELM test or who do not place in preparatory math. The writing workshops will sharpen skills and prepare students for a successful first year experience.
- The weekly Advising Seminar (all students) will address important issues about making a college commitment, adjusting to the college community, understanding the Financial Aid Award and managing money and paying for college, learning academic regulations, using advising tools, registering for fall quarter classes, choosing the right major, etc.
- The weekly Freshman Seminar (all students) will expose participants to additional resources to help them with their transition to college, including taking a campus tour, learning how to get the most out of campus resources, discussing their personal responsibility for their education, academic integrity, and beginning to consider what it means to be part of the diverse community of Cal Poly Pomona.
- Residence Life activities will help all students feel a part of the Summer Bridge community.
