Student Support & Equity Programs |

Undeclared Majors are advised through the Student Development & Undeclared Services sub-unit of Student Support and Equity Programs. Academic advisors work with undeclared students to assist them with their transition to college and exploration of majors and careers so that they successfully select a major by the end of their third quarter. Students may declare a major earlier if eligible. Academic advisors guide students through the process of declaring, informing them of any requirements their major of interest may have in order for them to make the change.
Academic advising for declared students is provided through each academic department. You need to visit your major department to receive advise on what classes to take (including general education courses), making any changes in your curriculum, and anything else pertinent to your degree requirements and academic standing. If you are an EOP declared student, you will also receive supplemental advising through Student Development & Undeclared Services as described in the section for EOP declared student advising.
Note for Business majors: If you are referred to the Advising Center for academic advising, you should go to the College of Business Advising Center located in Building 6, Room 219.
Before declaring a major, students should spend significant time exploring majors and careers, and discussing their interests with their academic advisor. Once a student is ready to declare, their academic advisor will explain the process and inform the student of any requirements that must be met in order to declare (e.g., submit the Change of Major petition to the Registrar's Office).
