END OF THE QUARTER INFORMATION
 |
|
Please take a few moments to review this important information regarding the end of the quarter. It will assist you in your preparation for the break. If you have any questions, please call our office at (909) 869-3307. Enjoy your break! |
Not Returning For The Next Quarter?
If your status has changed and you will not be returning for the next quarter, you must notify the Housing Office. In order to move out at the end of quarter, you should have already filed a Petition to Cancel and been approved to check out. Since cancellation requests must be received at least 30 days in advance, the deadline for canceling at the end of the fall quarter has expired.
Please keep in mind that removing your belongings and leaving with or without keys, does not release you from your contract. Your contract is for the academic year, and you will be financially responsible for housing unless you are released from your contract.
If you have been approved to move out, you must be completely checked out by 5:00 pm on the Friday of finals week.
Contact the Housing Office, building 59 if you have any questions or concerns.
Staying over the Break?
Residents are allowed to stay in their current rooms during the break at no additional charge. Please keep in mind that the cafeteria will be closed during the break and you will need to provide your own meals
Going Away For The Break?
If you plan to be away for any extended period, please be sure to empty your trash and/or remove any open or exposed food from your room. Remember to empty and defrost your refrigerator. Remember, if a roommate has moved out, the Facilities Department will need to clean this space and a new resident may be moving in. Please refer to section “Did Your Roommate Move Out.”
Help us conserve energy by turning off your light, air conditioner and unplugging any electrical appliances.
Food Service
Food service at Los Olivos Commons ends after dinner on the Friday of finals week. However, the kitchens in the halls will be available for use. Please note that it is your responsibility to clean up the kitchen after using it. The Vista Café will remain open during the break and may use any remaining meal points.
The first meal served at Los Olivos will be breakfast on the first day of the quarter.
Mail Delivery
During the break, mail will be delivered and placed in your mailbox Monday though Friday by 10 p.m. Packages can be picked up at the Housing Office, Building 59 during regular business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm). Mail will not be delivered during state holidays and the campus closure (December 24th through January 2nd).
Finals Week Quiet Hours
Quiet hours will be in effect 23 hours a day with a loud half hour from 9:00-10:00 pm, beginning midnight, the Saturday prior to finals week and end on Friday at 10pm. It is imperative that a quiet study environment be maintained. Please make a special effort to be considerate of others
Did Your Roommate Move Out?
If your roommate is moving out, it is important that you keep your belongings on your side of the room. You and your roommate(s) must return the room back to its original configuration. You will have a new roommate moving in. Facilities will need to enter your room to clean the vacant side in order for your new roommate to move in. If your personal belongings impede our facilities staff from cleaning the room, a labor charge will be imposed.
Please keep these points in mind, especially if you plan to be away for the break
Security And Access
To discourage the possibility of theft, please do not leave your car or room unattended while in the process of moving. You may want to take home all valuables and make sure your window and door are securely closed. For those staying over the break, please help keep the buildings secure. Remember: do not prop exterior doors, leave windows open, leave your room unlocked and unattended and report anyone who does not appear to be a resident.
Need Help During The Break?
There will be a resident advisor and a coordinator on duty every day during the break. The duty roster will be posted on the door of the main entrance of the building and the contact information for the on duty resident advisor will be posted at the front desk.
