Self-Defense for Women

The Violence Prevention & Women's Resource Center offers two types of self-defense classes. Self-defense classes are free and available for women of all ages. To schedule a self-defense class for your group, please complete a Program Request.

9-Hour Women's Self Defense Course

This class is offered in 3-3hour workshops and provides women with self-defense skills to escape an potential attacker. The instructors are Cal Poly Police officers and they provide a safe environment to learn safety techniques. The class is uaually offered every quarter free of charge to all Cal Poly female identified students, staff and faculty.

 

3-Hour Women's Self-Defense Workshop

Women are provided with a general overview of punches, kicks and releases. This class can be taught to groups as large as 30 women and is ideal for women who want a quick overview of assertiveness, awareness, and basic physical techniques they could use to defend themselves. This workshop is facilitated by community educators from Project Sister Family Services.
