Self-Defense for Women

The Violence Prevention & Women's Resource Center offers two types of self-defense classes. Self-defense classes are free and available for women of all ages. To schedule a self-defense class for your group, please contact 909-869-3112.

RAD Self-Defense: This is an intensive 9-hour self defense class that is offered in collaboration with the University Police Department. Women participate in three, 3 hour self-defense classes and are offered a certificate in self-defense. The RAD self-defense class is ideal for women who are interested in learning numerous punches, kicks, releases, grabs, and floor techniques. This class offers more one-on-one practice and situation simulations that allow women to practice the techniques they have learned in class.

General Self-Defense for Women: This is a 2-3 hour self-defense class that is offered in collaboration with rape crisis center Project SISTER Family Services. Women are provided with a general overview of punches, kicks and releases. This class can be taught to groups as large as 30 women and is ideal for women who want a quick overview of assertiveness, awareness, and basic physical techniques they could use to defend themselves.
